Safe use of AI assistants in a client-confidential practice: intake, drafting, file notes and deadlines.
What
Who
Paralegals, legal assistants, office managers, transaction coordinators, brokerage office staff and advisory-firm associates at Massachusetts practices with 2–100 employees.
No technical background required.
For Express-funded seats, all participants must be W-2 employees of the company receiving grant funds, including owner-operators.
Why
Professional practices bill for judgment but spend much of the week on drafting, re-typing and status updates, and careless AI use in a confidential setting is a real professional risk. Staff who can direct these tools safely give attorneys, brokers and advisors their hours back without exposing client information.
How
5 sessions of 2 hours, one per week, live with an instructor: interactive lecture, guided demonstration and hands-on practice. All practice uses the course's standardized practice material: Sample matter files, templates and correspondence, identical for every participant.
Capstone
In session 5 each participant completes one documented workflow on the practice firm (intake summary to drafted engagement letter to deadline entry) and drafts a data-handling rule set from a provided model.
The instructor reviews each capstone live against a written rubric:
Each participant receives written feedback against the rubric.
Session by session
10 instructional hours. Every hour is live with the instructor, and every exercise uses the course's standardized practice material.
